We’ve all heard about the birds and the bees. Well, most of us have. And with those dreaded speeches about sex education, we get inundated with advice to protect ourselves during sexual activity. It stands to reason, of course, that we should always take measures to protect ourselves against communicable diseases. It’s no secret that there are several sexually transmitted diseases out there.
Toenail fungus is a communicable disease. As you’re likely aware, it can be picked up when your feet are placed in moist, dark areas where bacteria love to flourish. Change rooms, swimming pools and puddles in dank areas are all prone to passing along a fungal infection to your feet. But what about when someone you know has toenail fungus? Can you contract it from that person? How do I prevent spreading toenail fungus to my partner?
More specifically, if you’re in a romantic relationship with someone, you’re bound to be closer to that person than just about anyone else, right? If your boyfriend or girlfriend has a toenail fungus infection, can it be sexually transmitted? Don’t assume that this is a silly question. It’s a very reasonable concern. So much so that it was found as a question in the Q&A section of ZocDoc.com.
“My boyfriend has nail fungus on his fingers and toes, some scaling of skin on hands. If I have sex with him and he touches me, can I get it on the inside as well as the outside?” posed the question. We’d like to put any fears to rest by noting that the answer given by the website indicated that sexual activity itself does not spread toenail fungus. What a relief, right?
“In terms of your personal concern about contracting skin or nail fungus inside the vagina,” reads the response, “this turns out not to be possible. The type of fungus that lives on the skin requires keratin to grow, and keratin is not found in the cells that line the vagina.” It should be mentioned, however, that while sexual activity doesn’t cause the spread of toenail fungus, your proximity to an infected person can do the trick.
In other words, skin-to-skin contact can make you liable to contracting a fungal infection if it is made with someone else who is infected. That means you could simply be lying beside your boyfriend and pick up an infection. You’ll want to avoid sharing towels, nail clippers and other personal items that could come into contact with your feet as well. Consider it a form of abstinence!
But, other than a noticeable appearance, how exactly would you know if someone has a toenail fungus infection or not? According to Healthline.com, there are a number of factors than can lead an infection. Among them are diabetes, advanced age, if you wear artificial nails, if you have a disease that affects the blood vessels, if you have a nail injury and if you have a weakened immune system.
Will you get toenail fungus from your boyfriend? There honestly is no conclusive answer. You know the precautions you should take. However, if you do end up with an infection yourself, there is help by way of an incredible product known as Zetaclear. It is actually known as the #1 customer recommended solution for toenail fungus. Check out the Zetaclear website to learn more about its quality guarantee!
I have been diagnosed with a nail fungus and I am not sure where it came from. This is why I have began Lamisil for it, for 3 months. It affects the fingers which is barely noticeable and toes which it is pretty obvious to the naked eye. When I finish this medicine and the topical “Formula 3”, will this return. If there is no thickening and I have caught in the beginning stages, how likely am I to recover without being re-infected with this?
this is exactly my own situation! My boyfriend has toenail fungus, and I wonder, will I get it? Thanks, I am smarter now, ha ha.
I got toe nail infection from my boyfriend. He started 3 month pill treatment a week after we met ( my suggestion) yet i contracted it, even though he slept in bed with his socks on, no shared towels or nailclippers. My toe bails only started showing signs of infection 3 months in relationship, microscopic changes to my nails, yet i sent clippings to the lab and it was possitive. I need 3 months pill treatment myself now. Dont be naive , u will get it
Wanted to know if u spread foot fungus to another person if u have it
Does ZetaClear have to be used continually the rest of a persons life to keep the nails clear?
Thanks for the information. My friend hides his nails and I finally realized why, they are looking quite nasty. So I will tell him about this site. He shouldn’t be so ashamed, we’re only human!
Yes, toe fungus is more common than most people realise. Show him the photos so he can compare. There are some products that are listed on this site (links help to cover hosting etc. costs, thank you.)
I know personal items, but what about sharing covers at night time can youget toenail fungus. Sometimes I can’t sleep just thinking about that. sometimes in the middle of the night I get up just to grab another blanket.
QUESTION: I have really bad toenail fungus on my big toe for two years now and the doc put me on Locetar. Yesterday while taking off my underwear for a bath, the skin beside the nail of my right thumb accidentally brushed against the nail of my infected big toe. I washed my right hand like 5 times, poured ethyl alcohol over it twice. After my bath, I poured tea tree oil all over the thumb and held it to the airconditioner for 5 minutes in hopes that the “cold air” will kill the fungus. Is my thumb nail still at risk for infection?
no it isn’t because it needs darkness to flourish, just, keep them clean, don’t wash them too much, just enough, keep them dry, dry them well, don’t cut them too deep, don’t let them grow so much so they won’t get hit against things, if they get damaged they could end up infected, try to clean the bathroom with bleach often, i admit sometimes i clean without gloves with bleach just so i won’t possibly get that crap passed on to fingers, maybe the bleach can sanitize? rubbing alcohol, etc, but only once a day, no overdoing, humidity is bad

Tried to read the article but was distracted by the side writings. I don’t agree with everything here, but still, it’s good info.

My husband has toe nail fungus. Should I be having a shower after he has been in the shower and the shower floor is still wet, or should I just shower in our 2nd bathroom to be on the safe side?
Εxcellent article. I am facіng some of tһese issues as well..
My boyfriend has it, right. He will not go and see a doctor about it, just ignores it (and me)!
